A historic moment unfolded as Indonesia U-23 defeated South Korea U-23 in the quarter-finals of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, on Friday (26/4/2024). The Garuda Muda squad, led by coach Shin Tae Yong, claimed a dramatic 11-10 win in the penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw. Pratama Arhan's decisive shot ended the match, securing Indonesia’s first-ever victory against South Korea at this level.

Despite their previous seven defeats, Indonesia broke the pattern, overcoming the formidable South Koreans, whose previous largest victory was a 7-0 thrashing during the 2000 Olympic Qualifiers. Arhan’s final penalty and Ernando’s key save against Lee Kang Hee marked the turning point, propelling Indonesia to the semi-finals and rewriting football history for the nation.
