Increased Interest in Outdoor Hobbies and Active Lifestyles Post-Pandemic
Post-pandemic, lifestyle trends and hobbies of Indonesians have undergone significant changes. One trend that continues to increase is the interest in outdoor activities and active lifestyles. Sports such as cycling, hiking and running are now popular hobbies among various age groups.
According to a recent survey, around 65% of Indonesians have started to actively engage in outdoor activities over the past two years. The main reason is the increasing awareness of the importance of maintaining physical and mental health. This hobby is not just a temporary trend, but also part of a new lifestyle that encourages a balance between work and leisure.
One running community, "Run For Life," reported a 30% increase in members since the beginning of 2023. "We see a lot of people joining to find ways to cope with stress, as well as maintain their health," said Andi, one of the community's coordinators. "Running in the open gives us freedom and togetherness with nature, which is very helpful for mental recovery after the pandemic," he added.
Apart from running, cycling and hiking have also seen a surge in interest. Many families take advantage of weekends to cycle in city parks or hike in suburban areas. With more hiking trails and bicycle facilities being improved by the government, people now have easier access to these hobbies.
Psychologist Dini Santoso explains, "Outdoor activities help improve mood and relieve anxiety. By adopting an active lifestyle, people not only become physically healthier but also happier."
It is predicted that this trend will continue to grow as people become more aware of the importance of maintaining a healthy life balance.
