A Champion’s Welcome: Marc Marquez Meets President Prabowo at Merdeka Palace
JAKARTA, Indonesia – Just days after making his historic seventh MotoGP world title, racing icon Marc Márquez
received a high–profile welcome
to Indonesia, meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at the Merdeka
Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025.
The
cordial meeting went beyond a simple celebrity
greeting; it served as a
significant moment to underscore Indonesia’s deep commitment to sports tourism
and the development
of its next generation of national athletes.
This Spanish rider,
who had just secured his 2025 MotoGP crown at the Japanese Grand Prix,
arrived at the Merdeka Palace also accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, and two of Indonesia’s most promising young racers: Mario Aji
(Moto2) and Veda Ega Pratama (who
is set to move up to Moto3).
President Prabowo, also a keen supporter of national development through various sectors,
engaged Márquez in a friendly exchange, even greeting him in Spanish. The focus
of the conversation quickly turned to the broader impact
of global sporting vents like the MotoGP on the
nation.
